Sheppard Mullin Rapidly Deploys a Standard Project Methodology with SharePoint

Sheppard Mullin, an AmLaw 100 law firm, faced senior-executive level challenges from very limited management visibility into projects: they didn’t know the true number of active projects, who was assigned or leading them, timelines were routinely missed (causing multi-year rollovers and budget issues), and departments lacked coordination. To address this, the firm created a PMO and selected BrightWork as their PPM tool, leveraging their existing SharePoint environment.

BrightWork was used to rapidly deploy a standard five‑phase, five‑gate project methodology across the firm, using SharePoint-based basic and complex templates that were customized to fit Sheppard Mullin. The vendor’s solution included a simple intake form and workflow, weekly task reminders, and project setup pages, centralizing all project information. BrightWork’s implementation delivered faster rollout, greater structure, improved visibility and coordination across projects, and stronger PMO-level reporting and control.
