Mater Saves Time and Lowers Project Costs with Online Project Status Reporting

Mater Health Services, a network of hospitals, health centres and research and pathology businesses, faced inefficiencies in its Project Portfolio Office as project managers repeatedly entered the same information to produce different stakeholder reports. Mater needed a single-entry solution that would automatically generate audience-specific, high-level real-time reports for steering committees and senior executives. BrightWork (implemented on SharePoint as a Project Portfolio Portal) was chosen to address these reporting and duplication challenges.

BrightWork deployed an online status reporting system for the Billing Improvement Project and the ERIC Steering Committees that auto-updates from project sites and combines auto-calculated metrics with brief manager updates to produce complete status reports. The reports are viewable online, displayed in meetings or printed if needed, cutting time to produce reports and reducing printing overhead. BrightWork’s solution delivered significant time savings and an estimated 90% reduction in paper/toner use (about $1,000 saved per year for each Steering Committee), while giving executives real-time visibility into large projects.
