Case Study: Sotheby's achieves seamless editorial-to-auction integration and major digital growth with Brightspot

A Brightspot Case Study

Preview of the Sotheby's Case Study

Delivering high-quality digital experiences for Sotheby's sophisticated audience of art collectors

Sotheby's, the international auction house, needed to modernize a traditionally print-focused business to deliver a seamless, media-rich online experience for discerning collectors. The company struggled with a cumbersome legacy AEM platform and sought an enterprise CMS that was flexible, easy to maintain, and could integrate editorial content with its auction engine — so Sotheby's partnered with Brightspot to drive its digital transformation.

Brightspot implemented a CMS with a built-in digital asset manager, multilingual support, a dynamic auction calendar, and deep integration with Sotheby's auction engine to create cohesive editorial-to-auction experiences and rich digital catalogs. The Brightspot solution enabled more than 900 digital catalogs, 5,000+ articles and 2,200 videos since 2020, 85% of auctions using digital-only catalogs by 2021 (saving millions in print costs), and delivered measurable growth — including a 131% increase in users, a 78% increase in luxury goods sold and a 44% increase in luxury good sales.
