Whole Foods, the natural and organic grocery retailer with more than 500 stores, needed a way to preserve its brand identity and storytelling after joining Amazon in 2017. With its main website serving recipes, food information, and lifestyle content, the company wanted to keep content management in-house while integrating more closely with Amazon’s e-commerce capabilities. Brightspot provided the headless CMS foundation for that effort.

Brightspot implemented a cloud-hosted, API-powered headless CMS with GraphQL integration and strong editorial controls so Whole Foods could manage content independently while connecting to Amazon’s back end. Brightspot also embedded team members with the Whole Foods CMS group to build custom prepublish preview and content authorization features. The result was greater control, flexibility, and faster content workflows, enabling Whole Foods to deliver a more seamless content-as-commerce experience alongside Amazon.
