McCarran International Airport Outfits Shuttle Busses with “Infotainment” Marketing Capabilities

McCarran International Airport sought a better way to reach the more than 7 million passengers who ride its free shuttle busses to and from the off‑site Rent‑A‑Car Center for the 10–12 minute trip. Working with Lamar Airport Advertising and Social Butterfly World, the airport needed a retrofit digital signage solution to deliver targeted, time‑of‑day and direction‑based messaging on its 45‑bus fleet; the project uses BrightSign hardware, specifically BrightSign’s HD1023 media players, as a core component of the new AVA – Audio Visual Ambassador™ infotainment network.

The vendor solution outfitted each bus with two 22‑inch LG displays driven by BrightSign HD1023 players, amplified audio integrated to the vehicle system, GPS triggers to show arrival vs. departure content, and Verizon WiFi for content updates. The first 25 buses were live in January 2018 with the remainder scheduled by Q2 2018, enabling advertisers to reach a captive, higher‑spend audience (renters reportedly have 33% more expendable income) and deliver timely, targeted campaigns that improve ROI — all powered by BrightSign’s media‑player platform.
