Digital Signage Improves Customer Service and the Working Environment at Utrecht City Council

Utrecht City Council consolidated staff into a new 22-level headquarters and needed a modern, standardized way to communicate with employees and visitors, replacing disparate channels like email, intranet, posters and noticeboards. To address this, the council selected BrightSign and its digital signage solution, deploying 34 BrightSign players (primarily XD1030 with some HD1020) together with BrightAuthor content software and BrightSign Network Enterprise Edition.

The BrightSign deployment—integrated by Hulskamp—feeds 23 46‑inch displays (one per floor), six 70‑inch reception screens, two 80‑inch atrium screens and three 32‑inch public/tourist displays, all managed via BrightAuthor and BrightSign Network. Rolled out in four months, the BrightSign system improved customer service and staff onboarding, provided timely consistent information across the organisation, and enabled departmental editors to create and manage content independently.
