FunXtion Experience Station needed an interactive, personalized virtual coaching system to make gym visits more engaging and social, with RFID login, synchronized multi‑screen group workouts, heart‑rate monitoring and a large library of exercise videos across many sites. BrightSign’s players — initially the 4K1042 and now the XT1143 4K Series 3 units — were selected to power the Experience Station hardware and deliver that personalized training experience.
BrightSign’s players manage the whole experience: they recognise users via RFID, select and play appropriate clips from a 1,000+ video library stored locally (using H.265 compression and an M.2 SSD), synchronize multiple screens, and poll MyZone heart‑rate bands every second. The XT1143’s hardware‑accelerated HTML5 engine doubled performance versus prior players and supports richer interactivity; as a result, FunXtion has rolled Experience Stations out to over 150 gyms in seven countries (100 in the Netherlands and 50+ across the UK, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Spain), delivering measurable improvements in engagement, personal workout tracking and group training capabilities.
