Case Study: ETH Zurich achieves campus-wide digital signage and reliable IPTV streaming with BrightSign

BrightSign network at top European technical university ETH Zurich informs, educates and entertains

ETH Zurich, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, needed a reliable, scalable campus-wide digital signage and lecture-streaming solution to replace an aging Windows-based player network. The university deployed 75 BrightSign XD players and licensed BrightSign Network Enterprise Edition to deliver signage, video and IPTV services across campus.

The solution, designed and installed by ETH Zurich’s Multimedia Services team with support from BrightSign’s Swiss distributor, stores content on the university’s own servers and is managed by departmental Communication Officers. BrightSign’s deployment provides live streaming to scale lecture capacity, IPTV multicast and menu displays (25 players in lecture theatres, 20 in the student restaurant), has replaced the former system, and is praised for its stability and ease of use.
