Spanish Oaks Hospice, a Southeastern Georgia provider known for expert care of Alzheimer’s and dementia patients, struggled with paper-based workflows, lengthy documentation, and wasted staff time when Susan Bennett became executive director. The organization had a small census (about 30–40 patients), heavy administrative burdens, and wanted to avoid the costs and downtime associated with traditional server-based systems.

Implementing the Brightree Hospice cloud-based, point-of-care solution streamlined admissions, documentation, IDT prep and billing, allowed nurses to work remotely, and eliminated system downtime. As a result Spanish Oaks quadrupled its census (to an average of 130 patients) without adding billing staff, cut “on call” meeting time (saving about $100,000/year), improved care with standardized protocols, and simplified shift documentation for its new in-patient facility.
