The Regency Chess Company is the UK’s leading retailer of high-quality chess sets, boards, timers and backgammon sets, selling via a Zen Cart website, Amazon and phone. Growth was hampered by siloed systems—TradeGecko and Xero—that wouldn’t integrate, forcing excessive manual work, disconnected accounting and up to six months to get reliable business performance data.
With support from forward-thinking accountants Zig Zag, Regency implemented Brightpearl’s all-in-one platform (plus Brightpearl Payments and Scurri), gaining built‑in accounting, real‑time reporting and much faster processes. The change cut time to invoice to 1.25 days and time to ship to 0.88 days, unlocked an R&D tax relief reclaim (~£7–8k first year), and freed the team to focus on growth initiatives such as expanding sales outside the EU.
