Case Study: Spikeball Store achieves a successful switch from DTC to wholesale while staying lean with Brightpearl

A Brightpearl Case Study

Preview of the Spikeball Store Case Study

A baller move by Spikeball sees its switch from DTC to wholesale pay off big

Spikeball is a fast-growing manufacturer and online retailer that popularized the sport of roundnet, now played by over 350,000 people in the US and sold through thousands of retailers and multiple online channels. After rapid DTC growth (via Shopify and Amazon) and a high-profile move into wholesale with partners like Dick’s Sporting Goods, the company found its spreadsheet-driven operations couldn’t cope with differing fulfillment requirements, multichannel order routing, inventory visibility, and the need to stay lean on staffing.

In 2014 Spikeball implemented Brightpearl to centralize orders from Shopify, Amazon and a wholesale portal, automate routing to the warehouse, and deliver real-time reporting for inventory and demand planning. The system let Spikeball support a new wholesale channel without adding headcount, improve UX based on channel-level insights, and scale internationally—providing the visibility and automation needed to grow efficiently.
