Wylie Independent School District, a 20-campus district in Collin County, Texas serving more than 17,200 students across 2.4 million sq. ft., struggled with complex, time-consuming utility tracking and reporting after statewide requirements increased in 2008. Manual bill entry and fragmented analytics made it hard to get accurate, actionable energy data and to budget or diagnose issues efficiently.

By adopting Dude Solutions’ Energy Manager and empowering a district Green Team led by Facilities Manager Marcia Coker, Wylie ISD automated bill entry, improved data accuracy and reporting, and shifted to data-driven energy decisions. Results include a 20% electricity reduction from an LED project (2015–2019), 10–30% savings during the annual Cool Choices competition (earning the 2019 TEMA State Energy Project of the Year), roughly 56% utility reduction during the COVID-19 shutdown, and thousands of dollars saved annually.
