Waco Independent School District Secures Millions of Dollars through Bond & Insurance Payout with Brightly Software’s Help

Waco Independent School District (Waco ISD) is a Texas district serving about 15,000 students across 32 school buildings and 2.4 million square feet of facility space. Faced with aging buildings and the need to accurately track work orders, maintenance and deferred maintenance to justify capital projects and insurance claims, the district sought a software solution to provide reliable, auditable facility data.

By implementing Brightly’s Asset Essentials suite (with Maintenance Direct, capital planning and Event Manager) and uploading historical maintenance data, Waco ISD was able to prioritize needs and win community support for a $355 million bond, secure a $22 million insurance settlement (an $8 million increase over the insurer’s initial offer) to rebuild a burned middle school, create a six‑person preventative maintenance team, raise its facilities budget from $500K to $3M, and shift proactive work orders from 4% to about 20%.
