The University of Tennessee Housing Department, led by Associate Director Michael West and responsible for housing 7,000 students with a 26-person maintenance team, faced an inefficient, paper-based work order process that required students to visit front desks to submit requests. That system made monitoring and timely response difficult and left many issues unreported.
The department implemented Dude Solutions Work & Asset, a cloud-based portal that lets students submit work orders from any device, automates routing to technicians’ tablets, sends updates, and produces data-driven reports. The campus-wide rollout and RA support drove strong adoption: bogus requests fell below 1%, parent calls dropped 98%, response times improved, and the department gained greater transparency, accountability, and staff time savings.
