A Brightly Software Case Study
The Town of Walkerville, a small but affluent local government area in Adelaide with nearly 8,000 residents and an asset portfolio valued at $220 million (35 km of roads, 55 buildings and 80 km of footpaths), faced the challenge of meeting high community service expectations while keeping rates low. To make evidence-based, long-term budget decisions and balance competing priorities, the Council implemented Brightly’s Strategic Asset Management software.
Using Brightly’s predictive scenario modelling, Walkerville captured condition data and tested intervention timing across asset classes, revealing roads were in good condition and did not require immediate capital works. This allowed the Council to reduce the road capital budget, reinvest $300,000 per year into major community upgrades, and use 50-year modelling to ensure sustainable, confident decision-making and smarter trade-offs between assets.
