A Brightly Software Case Study

Preview of the The City of Moncton Case Study

The City of Moncton faced a universal challenge: how to align the backward-looking financial reporting they had in place with the forward-looking delivery of sustainable infrastructure

The City of Moncton, New Brunswick (population ~70,000; “Hub of the Maritimes”; $143.5M capital budget 2016–2020) faced a service-delivery gap caused by backward-looking financial reporting and expensive, siloed systems that kept finance and accounting disconnected from asset management and limited efficient, forward-looking infrastructure planning.

By implementing Brightly Assetic and creating a common asset hierarchy that integrated GIS, the ERP and Assetic into a single asset register, Moncton aligned finance with Roads, Facilities and Parks to model funding scenarios and plan proactively. The initiative removed information silos, improved PSAB 3150 reporting and decision-making, achieved full asset database integration, delivered a projected 10% reduction in the capital plan and an estimated 20% ROI.
