Texas District Increases Productivity with Facilities Automation Solution

Katy Independent School District (Katy ISD) in Katy, TX — the 10th largest district in Texas with about 67,000 students across 55 schools — needed a facility scheduling solution that could scale with rapid growth. Managing thousands of events each year, the district’s manual transfer of scheduling data to its building automation system consumed more than 3.5 man-hours per day.

Katy ISD integrated SchoolDude’s facilities automation with Siemens’ Building Automation System using the Siemens SchoolDude Scheduling Utility (SDSU), automating zone mapping and schedule communication so events directly control HVAC and lighting. The integration delivered major time savings (323 reservations entered in 2.5 minutes), reduced manual labor, and improved energy efficiency by conditioning only the spaces in use.
