Riverside Regional Medical Center, a 72-acre, 960,000 sq. ft. campus in Newport News with 440 beds and 2,500 employees, needed a simpler way to document and justify the facilities department’s work. The previous server-based work order system was cumbersome and underused, leaving the 34-person maintenance team without accurate tracking, accountability, or the data needed to justify staffing and workload.
Riverside implemented MaintenanceEdge, a web-based, user-friendly solution rolled out to maintenance staff and hospital requestors. The system simplified work-order entry and dispatch (phone, mobile, or any hospital computer), enabled easy role changes and reassignment, and provided fast, flexible reporting for operations, billing and audits. The result was streamlined maintenance operations, better documentation and accountability, fewer phone requests, and faster access to actionable reports.
