How Children’s Health Used Origin Data to Secure $20 Million in Funding Requests

Children’s Health is a nationally ranked pediatric teaching hospital system in Dallas, TX (496-bed Dallas hospital, 212-bed Plano hospital, and 4.5 million sq ft of facilities) that faced a critical data gap for managing its aging and expanding infrastructure. When Director of Engineering Brooke Bohme arrived, there was no comprehensive asset inventory or lifecycle records, making capital planning for a new replacement hospital and ongoing projects unpredictable and difficult to justify to finance leaders.

By implementing Brightly’s Origin and completing a system-wide asset assessment in 2020, Children’s Health built reliable 10-year forecasts and used asset analytics for scenario planning and risk-based decision making. The data-driven approach helped the team change project scopes (avoiding a $6M vertical expansion cost), save millions across projects, and justify and secure about $20 million in capital funding from finance.
