A Brightly Software Case Study
Derbyshire County Council, responsible for nearly 3,300 miles (5,300 km) of roads, bridges, signs and related assets, faced mounting pressure after budget cuts and an inconsistent paper-based process. With just twelve two‑person reactive maintenance crews, the council struggled to track reported defects, prioritise work and keep up with repairs across the county.
The council created a 22-person Highways Hub and implemented a Single Asset Management System (SAMS) built on Brightly Confirm, plus mobile field tools, spatial geocoding and customer engagement software — all integrated with SAP. The result: average jobs per crew doubled from 4 to ~8, the repair backlog fell 62% in one year, urgent repairs now meet the two‑hour target 100% (up from 67%), and on‑time completion rates across other windows improved substantially.
