Concordia University Creates “Smart” Building Map Using GIS Technology

Concordia University, a private school with campuses in Mequon, WI and Ann Arbor, MI serving about 9,000 students and more than 1 million square feet of facilities, needed a robust way to manage preventive and reactive maintenance, parts inventory and physical assets across a sprawling campus footprint that includes underground tunnels and a 200‑acre satellite site.

Concordia moved from MaintenanceDirect to Brightly’s Asset Essentials with Brightly’s implementation support. The platform centralized work orders, sped reactive responses, automated parts tracking (2,400+ parts), and enabled GIS-linked asset mapping for thousands of items (trees, benches, safety equipment), which improved budgeting, reporting and operational continuity — all supported by ongoing product improvements and responsive customer service.
