Hawthorne School District in Hawthorne, CA (about 9,000 students) faced workflow and communication problems under a desktop maintenance system (Escape Technology). Director of Facilities Louis Velez had to print and distribute work orders daily, deal with slow principal approvals and double-assigned jobs, and contend with inaccurate reporting and an inefficient Google Doc IT ticket process.

The district moved to the web-based SchoolDude platform, enabling mobile work-order assignment, real-time updates, event management and a routed IT help desk. The change delivered major time savings, reduced phone inquiries, improved interdepartmental communication, allowed contractors to be managed online, and produced an 83% drop in incomplete work orders (from over 400 to about 69).
