Bristol City Council Are Able To More Effectively Manage CCTV & Fibre Network, BNET

Bristol City Council, which serves a city of about 459,300 residents, needed to better manage BNET — its 15-year-old, 200 km ducting and fibre communications network that supports CCTV, traffic systems and data. Inspections and maintenance were paper-based with records scattered across multiple systems, maps were incomplete (leading to accidental network damage), and there was no central way to track faults, resolution times or contractor performance.

BCC implemented Brightly Confirm (with ConfirmConnect for mobile asset location) and worked with contractor Chroma Vision and Brightly Professional Services to configure preventative maintenance, inspections and works management. The solution created a paperless, centralised asset register with dashboards, SLA tracking, improved data validation and contractor accountability, resulting in better visibility of assets and faults, stronger contract governance, measurable preventative maintenance, and ongoing improvements to the BNET asset register and service levels.
