Baltimore City School District Streamlines Operations with Asset Essentials

Baltimore City Public Schools (BCPS) serves roughly 76,000 students across 150 school buildings and 17 million square feet of facility space spread over 19 miles. Charged with keeping schools safe and operational, BCPS struggled with underfunding and fragmented maintenance processes and needed better work-order, preventive maintenance and contractor data to plan, diagnose problems and justify capital requests.

BCPS transitioned from a legacy Brightly solution to Brightly’s Asset Essentials in 2023, consolidating data, automating preventive tasks and simplifying workflows. The district now captures and routes requests quickly, uses historical work-order data to diagnose outages and prioritize repairs, and produces the maintenance metrics needed to support capital funding—resulting in faster response, clearer diagnostics and stronger justification for investments in school infrastructure.
