Digital Health Solutions to Improve Diabetes Care

Novo Nordisk, a global healthcare company and leader in diabetes care, needed an open, device-agnostic Internet of Things (IoT) platform to support its current and future digital health offerings. The company’s challenge was to capture data from a range of continuous glucose meters and smart insulin pens while meeting strict healthcare privacy, security, regulatory, and quality requirements. BrightInsight’s regulated platform was chosen to provide the foundation for these digital health initiatives.

BrightInsight implemented its regulated BrightInsight Platform to capture, transmit, and analyze data from Novo Nordisk’s connected insulin pens and integrate information from third-party diabetes solutions such as Abbott FreeStyle Libre, Glooko Diasend, Dexcom, and Roche. The solution enabled Novo Nordisk to develop and host digital health devices, apps, and algorithms at scale in a compliant environment, helping accelerate time to market, lower total cost of ownership, and improve engagement between people with diabetes and their caregivers.
