HPE is Accelerating Next with Brightidea

Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s HP Software unit, led by Head of Innovation Ahi Gvirtsman, used an internal crowdsourcing program called “The Garage” to tap employee creativity and drive new revenue. Despite the program’s potential, adoption was hindered by separate login credentials, no standard way to submit ideas, and a lack of KPIs—making it hard to motivate busy employees and measure impact.

Gvirtsman’s team implemented Brightidea with single sign-on, a customized landing page, quarterly submission cycles, and a clear set of KPIs tracked monthly. The platform became a global repository for ideas and collaboration, resulting in 113 innovation initiatives, participation from over 31,000 employees, roughly $2.7M in financial outcomes, and multiple projects moving to production (e.g., Service Manager Smart Analytics, HP Threat Central).
