Case Study: HP Software achieves one-third workforce engagement and a steady idea-to-incubation pipeline with Brightidea

A Brightidea Case Study

HP - Customer Case Study

HP Software, the enterprise software unit of Hewlett‑Packard with thousands of employees and a global customer and partner footprint, needed a way to energize cross‑departmental innovation. Its InnoStream program and “The Garage” crowdsourcing tool faced low participation, no central submission standard or KPIs, and friction from non‑corporate credentials, limiting the company’s ability to capture and scale employee ideas.

The team implemented Brightidea with single‑sign‑on, a customized, visual landing experience, a concise “tweet” submission template, default images, quarterly cycles, coaching and gamified incentives, and rigorous KPI tracking. The result: one‑third of HP Software’s workforce engaged, quarterly averages of ~80 ideas, 750 comments and 700 voters, about 15 ideas incubated each quarter with 3+ moving to seed or implementation, and several revenue‑generating products progressing toward production.
