How Cisco is Achieving Millions in Innovation Outcomes

Cisco’s Services Innovation Excellence Center (SIEC) needed a better way to capture, evaluate and track ideas from its global workforce. With tens of thousands of employees and community members spread across more than 90 countries, the team faced gaps in idea collection, selection of high-potential concepts, and measurement of ROI.

They implemented Brightidea’s scalable, flexible crowdsourcing platform in 2007 and built “franchises” to train business units to run their own initiatives, later reaffirming the choice in 2015. The program has engaged 57,000 users, generated 5,600 ideas (with 20,000 comments and 61,000 votes), produced $170M in projected outcomes and tracked more than $60M from 86 implemented ideas.
