Brightgrove worked with the Largest Multinational Engineering & Electronics Company, a Germany-based global manufacturer of industrial tools and electronics, to turn products like drills, angle grinders, and floodlights into smart connected devices. The challenge was to build a mobile-based IoT solution using Bluetooth Low Energy that would work across iOS and Android, while coordinating closely with the customer’s in-house engineers and meeting a very tight release schedule.

Brightgrove delivered a reusable IoT management and control framework plus native iOS and Android apps that let users remotely activate, shut down, schedule, group, monitor, and lock connected tools, with alarm notifications for improper use. The solution was integrated into the customer’s Toolbox app and helped launch the first connected device quickly, reduced development costs versus onsite build, and transferred native mobile development know-how to the customer’s team.
