California Online Television Service Company, a free ad-supported online TV streaming service from California, needed to rapidly expand its in-house development capacity as user growth accelerated across web, mobile, smart TVs, and connected devices. After a poor experience with a previous team, the company partnered with Brightgrove to add a senior dedicated development team for its streaming platform and related apps.

Brightgrove assembled and scaled a 23-person Agile team, modernized the product, migrated it from a monolith to microservices, developed new iOS and Android features, expanded the service internationally, built an internal adtech analytics tool, and integrated the platform with Viacom’s back end. As a result, the customer reached 12M monthly active users, tripled revenue by the end of 2018, launched across major TV ecosystems like Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV, Roku, and Chromecast, and secured 140+ new business partnerships.
