Video at forefront of Australian Olympic Committee's strategy for the Rio 2016 Games

The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) is a not‑for‑profit organisation responsible for selecting and supporting Australian Olympic teams and promoting the Olympic movement. Facing sporadic video production, time‑consuming uploads/transcoding, limited control over distributed content, and a need to boost year‑round engagement and generate new revenue, the AOC sought a more efficient, centrally managed video strategy ahead of Rio 2016.

The AOC implemented Brightcove Video Cloud to centralize uploads, automate transcoding, manage players/playlists, sync select content to YouTube, and easily share clips with broadcast partners. The streamlined workflow enabled more frequent publishing, expanded reach and retention, and supported monetisation plans; monthly online video views rose 273% from 2011–2015 and the AOC forecasted ~280,000 views for Rio while planning 400 athlete videos and pre‑roll ad revenue.
