Video Amplifies the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s Reach and Donor Opportunities

The Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO), the fourth-oldest U.S. orchestra, needed to rebuild audience engagement and revenue after a difficult 2010 season and limited access to performances. Having launched live webcasts in 2011 and reached roughly one million viewers over four years, the DSO amassed a large video archive and sought a way to extend its reach and convert viewers into donors.

Working with Brightcove, the DSO launched DSO Replay, a branded on-demand portal offering 1080p video and high‑quality audio, free two‑minute previews, and full access to 125+ works for a $50 Annual Fund gift. Customizable CTAs and an easy-to-manage Gallery helped the orchestra grow its donor base by hundreds of households (many first-time donors), increase engagement and educational use, and advance its goal of becoming “the most accessible orchestra on the planet.”
