Case Study: Tropfest achieves secure, HD-capable, scalable film submissions and streamlined judging with Brightcove

A Brightcove Case Study

Preview of the Tropfest Case Study

Tropfest partners with Brightcove for Short Film Competition Entries

Tropfest is Australia’s largest and most prestigious short film festival, attracting a national live audience of more than 150,000 and international editions in multiple territories. The festival relies on online submissions but faced a major setback when a third‑party upload service failed and erased early entries and data, exposing the need for a more secure, flexible platform that gave filmmakers more format options and Tropfest greater control over distribution to pre‑selection judges.

Tropfest partnered with Brightcove to build a customized Video Cloud solution integrated with its website and entry forms; the system was delivered in weeks and supported a wider range of formats, up to 800 MB uploads and high‑definition screening. The platform handled over 600 entries for Tropfest 2013, improved judge workflows with secure HD playlists, streamlined backend processes, and is being rolled out to other Tropfest territories as part of an ongoing global partnership.
