The Chicago Symphony Orchestra (founded 1891) sought to extend its century-long recording legacy to younger, digital audiences while still serving traditional listeners who prefer CDs and radio. Facing the need for high-quality audio/video, cross-platform delivery and a solution that wouldn’t overly tax internal resources, the CSO developed an integrated media strategy around live and on‑demand streaming of major events like the Verdi Requiem.
They implemented Brightcove Video Cloud and Video Cloud Live with Facebook publishing and partner embeds to deliver HD audio/video across devices and syndicate the stream to 37 partner sites. The campaign drove more than 95,000 views (22,794 live), increased site traffic tenfold on event day (maintaining 5x the next day), added 4,315 Facebook likes, generated 8,000+ Facebook views, boosted Facebook post reach by 544.6% (total reach +333.6%), and contributed roughly 25% more views via partner sites—leading the CSO to plan a new media portal.
