Historic Concert, Powered by Brightcove, Gets Over 9 Million Views

Dropkick Murphys, the Boston-based Celtic punk band known for hits like “I’m Shipping Up to Boston,” faced a sudden halt to touring when COVID-19 closed venues in 2020. To keep performing and reach fans worldwide, they staged “Streaming Outta Fenway,” the first audience-free concert at a major U.S. stadium—an ambitious live event at empty Fenway Park that needed a rock‑solid streaming solution.

Brightcove powered the multi-endpoint livestream—hosting branded Gallery pages and delivering feeds to the band’s site and social channels, Red Sox and MLB properties, Liverpool FC, XM Sirius and more—ensuring scalability and zero downtime. The result: over 9 million views, more than $700,000 raised for charity, and a seamless global broadcast that demonstrated a new model for live music.
