A Brightcove Case Study
Follett, a leading provider of K–12 and higher-education materials and technology, faced growing access problems because it hosted video content on YouTube—which many school networks block—and wanted to bring production in-house while simplifying submissions and voting for its annual Follett Challenge. The company needed a platform that could host video on its own servers, deliver across devices and networks, and streamline contest workflows for educators.
Follett implemented Brightcove Video Cloud (June 2012), moved video production in-house, integrated with social and mobile channels, and used Video Cloud’s API to power submissions, voting and monetized events. The change made videos widely accessible, boosted Follett Challenge votes 764% (from 27,000 in 2012 to 233,346 in 2014), achieved ~90% employee on-demand viewership for internal communications, and delivered cost savings and simplified operations.
