A Brightcove Case Study
The City of Malmö, Sweden’s third-largest city and a leader in sustainable urban development, sought to expand its use of online video to engage residents, tourists and stakeholders. After starting video on its site in 2009 with a small provider, the city lost track of its growing library and who had access. With 20 departments and about 25,000 employees, Malmö needed a more robust online video platform to organize content, control access and scale its communications.
Malmö implemented Brightcove Video Cloud to centralize video management, enable customizable playlists and YouTube sync, and provide detailed analytics. The platform let the team focus on content and intranet integration, supported plans for live crisis streaming, and improved distribution—resulting in much higher engagement (as much as a 1,300% increase over text-only pages), simplified syndication and greater visibility and public dialogue around the city’s sustainability projects.
