Brightcove Keeps the Cameras Rolling for BAFTA’s Online Video Initiatives

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), founded in 1947, promotes excellence in film, television, games and children’s programming and maintains a large archive of event, awards and educational video content from more than 200 annual events. BAFTA needed a robust, multi-platform online video solution to expand access beyond live attendees, enable rapid turnaround of awards and red‑carpet footage, and better organize and share long- and short‑form media for global and mobile audiences.

Implementing Brightcove’s HTML5-enabled video platform (July 2009) gave BAFTA faster publishing and uploads, simpler content management and easy training for volunteers, while extending reach to iPad, iPhone and Android users. Brightcove analytics drove a shift toward short-form highlight packages, and the platform delivered measurable gains—higher daily page views, longer dwell time, and the ability to publish backstage content in near real time—supporting future plans for a searchable learning channel.
