How Q Accountants are setting the example for DEI and ESG in the accounting industry

Q Accountants, a 26‑person firm founded by Farid Gasanov, set out to embed DEI and ESG into the heart of their practice while demonstrating that small firms can lead in social and environmental impact. They faced the challenge of turning informal values into measurable action—supporting displaced Ukrainians, championing charities, and formalising governance—while seeking wider recognition for their approach. Bright, a provider of software and industry platforms for accountants, worked with Q Accountants to document and promote their DEI and ESG journey.

Bright showcased Q Accountants’ solutions and results through a focused case study and promotion, while Q implemented concrete measures: direct accounting and personal support to over 20 Ukrainian businesses and individuals, discounted or free services for charities (including a year free for some), profit‑sharing for staff, and a partnership with Verdn that has enabled the planting of over 1,000 mangrove trees and removal of 15,300 kg of CO2. Bright’s endorsement helped amplify these achievements—Q Accountants was shortlisted for the 2023 DEI Pride Award and are progressing toward B Corp certification.
