Shedd Aquarium installs an octopus bus shelter in 2 locations with Bridgewater Studio

Shedd Aquarium contacted Bridgewater Studio with an idea to create an octopus-themed bus shelter to promote its Museum Campus in Chicago. The challenge was to transform a 2D sketch into a fully-realized, three-dimensional sculpture that would fit the precise dimensions of an existing bus shelter structure.

Bridgewater Studio developed a solution by first creating a detailed 3D model. They then sculpted the octopus and accompanying aquatic life, utilizing CNC foam fabrication for the large octopus and 3D printing for the smaller creatures, followed by painting and finishing. The entire project was fabricated in their studio. The final assembled bus shelter was successfully installed as a permanent exhibit at the aquarium.
