Shedd Aquarium, an iconic Chicago institution, faced the challenge of creating an inclusive and intuitive interactive experience that would allow visitors to explore its massive aquatic tanks from the inside. Previous vendors had been stumped by the technical and design requirements. They engaged Bridgewater Studio to reimagine the experience using cutting-edge technology and inclusive design principles.

Bridgewater Studio designed and produced custom periscope-like interactives with adjustable viewfinders and joystick controls, allowing guests to pan, tilt, and zoom high-resolution 8K live feeds from inside the tanks. By leveraging rapid prototyping and in-house fabrication, Bridgewater delivered a seamless, durable, and wildly popular installation that feels timeless within the historic space. The result is a one-of-a-kind experience that guests cannot find anywhere else.
