Graduate Roosevelt Island commissions a 13-foot Flyboy sculpture with Bridgewater Studio

Bridgewater Studio collaborated with Graduate Roosevelt Island, a boutique hotel in New York City, to create a large and impactful art installation for its lobby. The hotel's challenge was to make a major statement by installing a 13-foot tall sculpture of artist Hebru Brantley's 'Flyboy' character, a process that required expert fabrication and installation planning.

The solution involved Bridgewater Studio using advanced techniques including 3D scanning a original figurine, digital sculpting, and 3D printing a scale model. The full-size sculpture was then machined using a 7-axis Kuka robot cell, with the CNC-carved parts hand-assembled around a steel armature. Through careful planning for the lobby's infrastructure, Bridgewater Studio successfully installed the polyurea-coated sculpture, resulting in a huge success for the hotel.
