Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which operates hospitals in the North West of England, needed a secure way to manage rapidly growing patient, email, and file data while meeting strict 7-year retention regulations. Its existing systems were filling up, slowing down, and backup windows were stretching to as long as 52 hours over a weekend. BridgeHead Software, working with Dell, was brought in to help address these storage and compliance challenges.

BridgeHead Software implemented its Email Archive and File Archive solution as the first phase of a broader archiving strategy, using its Healthcare Data Management (HDM) platform to improve secure access, search, and retrieval of data across files, emails, and SharePoint sites. The solution was designed to integrate with the Trust’s VMware, Dell PowerEdge, and Dell EqualLogic environment, reduce storage pressure and support disaster recovery, while a second phase would add Clinical Archiving. The result was a more efficient, compliant, and clinician-friendly data management environment that helped the Trust prepare for continued growth in storage demand.
