KishHealth System speeds delivery of medical records with HP Converged Storage

KishHealth System, a community health system in DeKalb, Illinois, needed to address growing storage demands for its MEDITECH EMR and PACS environments. As its existing storage approached capacity, the organization also wanted better performance, simpler management, and a disaster recovery plan for critical healthcare systems. BridgeHead Software was part of the solution the hospital evaluated for backup modernization.

KishHealth System implemented HP 3PAR storage for its MEDITECH EMR system, HP IBRIX storage for PACS, and BridgeHead Integrated Serverless Backup (ISB) for faster snapshot-based backups, alongside HP StoreOnce deduplication and replication. The results were strong: MEDITECH response time improved from 4.09 seconds to 1.53 seconds, I/O performance increased from 270 to 716 IOPS, thin provisioning reduced allocated storage by 62 percent, and backup data was reduced from 58 TB to 4.3 TB, a 92 percent reduction. BridgeHead Software’s backup approach helped KishHealth expect backups to be completed in minutes instead of up to six hours.
