CoinDesk, the leading media platform for the next generation of global investors and organizer of Consensus, faced a sudden COVID-19 challenge: cancel or postpone their flagship event just 59 days before it was due to go live. To keep the summit on schedule and preserve its mission to inform, educate and connect the crypto community, CoinDesk partnered with Brella and used Brella’s AI-powered matchmaking and virtual event tools to move Consensus to a 100% virtual format.
Brella’s solution—AI-driven matchmaking, 1:1 video meetings, and virtual networking features—was deployed alongside CoinDesk’s curated program and VoD content. The results exceeded expectations: over 22,000 participants (vs. an estimated 10,000), 35,000+ chat messages, new attendee markets identified, and strong networking outcomes despite no physical event. By using Brella, CoinDesk was able to scale connections, capture valuable attendee data, and deliver measurable engagement at a much larger scale than their in-person events.
