Polk County Public Schools saves time and money with virtual hiring events

Polk County Public Schools, a 150-school district in Bartow, Florida, faced the challenge of recruiting enough teachers and staff, especially for out-of-state hiring, while managing limited budget and staff bandwidth. The district had been relying on in-person recruiting events, but found them costly, time-consuming, and not effective enough. Polk County Public Schools turned to Brazen’s virtual hiring event platform to improve teacher recruitment and retention.

With Brazen, Polk County Public Schools moved its career fairs and transfer fairs online, allowing recruiters to host events from their desks and candidates to attend without traveling. The results were strong: an annual fair grew from 350 to 700 active participants, with 300 additional sign-ups added to the applicant database, and a Teacher Transfer Fair increased from 125 attendees and 75 filled positions to 400 attendees and 150 filled positions. Brazen helped Polk County Public Schools recruit more teachers in 3-4 months than in a full year of face-to-face recruiting, while also spending less money.
