A Digital First for Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum

Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum, home to the world’s largest collection of wood type and a hub for letterpress enthusiasts, faced a sudden 2020 challenge: convert its tactile, in-person gala Wayzgoose into a virtual experience that preserved the event’s immersive design, community spirit, and fundraising mission. The museum needed to reach a wider audience while keeping the hands-on, educational feel of its conference and supporting scholarship opportunities.

Working with agency Shoot the Moon Productions and Brandlive, HWTM launched a fully branded, highly customizable virtual Awayzgoose with strong cross-team support and real-time analytics. The result: the event surpassed goals—500+ attendees, a 400% increase in scholarship volume (10 → 50 scholarships), 3,800+ page views, expanded partnerships and on-demand engagement—while maintaining the museum’s sense of community and mission.
