How The Australian National University used Brandfolder Content Automation to save design costs and reduce workload

The Australian National University (ANU), Australia’s top-ranked higher-education provider based in Canberra with more than 20,000 students and nearly 4,000 staff, faced significant brand fragmentation and an overwhelmed central design studio. A growing backlog led staff to outsource work—often producing off-brand materials—while an upcoming brand refresh and many non‑Designer users meant ANU needed a way to ensure consistency without adding to the design team’s workload.

ANU implemented Brandfolder Content Automation (templating and brand management) to lock down assets, enable non-designers to create on‑brand content, and streamline approvals. Since early 2019 the platform has supported roughly 6,200 exports, saved an estimated AU$840k+ in freelance design costs (and thousands of design hours), reduced central team workload, increased staff engagement with the new identity, and improved overall brand compliance.
