Orlando Utilities Commission speeds storm response with Brandcoders using 25+ weather stations

Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC), the second-largest municipal utility in Florida, faced a challenge in safely deploying crews for power restoration after storms. Their previous method of using a citywide average wind speed often caused unnecessary response delays. OUC partnered with Brandcoders to develop a custom application that could utilize real-time, location-specific weather data to improve their emergency response efforts.

Brandcoders developed the Breeze Board platform, which aggregates real-time data from over 25 local weather stations. The application uses algorithms to identify safe deployment zones where wind speeds drop below the critical 35 mph threshold, generating clear route maps for crews. This solution resulted in noticeable improvements in response time during hurricanes, allowing OUC to safely begin restoration efforts much sooner and reduce overall customer downtime. Breeze Board has become an essential part of OUC's storm response toolkit.
