Uber’s November 2, 2016 launch of its redesigned rider app generated global buzz and a large spike in online conversations. The company needed a way to monitor rider and driver sentiment in real time so product and marketing teams could prioritize feedback, iterate quickly, and turn social conversations into actionable insights.
Using Brand24’s social listening, Uber tracked mentions, reach and engagement across channels and responded to feedback during and after the rollout. The campaign captured an estimated 55.2 million social media reach and 838,304 mentions, with online discussion up 100% and highlighted engagement up ~90%; a one-day event drove a 249% rise in engagement. Brand24’s insights helped drive business outcomes too — Uber reported an 11% increase in average rides per user, a rise in new users, and other uplifted metrics.
